TYPE OF FILTER

Whole House 2-tank, 2-media system.

FOR WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES?

This is a great filter generally used on municipal systems where chlorine is the disinfectant (not chloramine), and water is not fluoridated. Could be right for well water, but that should be judged by what is in your water.   (Combine with kitchen Fluoride Plus filter for a great solution.)

WHAT IS FILTERED?

Chlorine, heavy metals, chromium, lead, chemically-based contaminants, organic-based contaminants, scale and hundreds of other contaminants. These materials work on all the categories of contaminant. This includes asbestos, arsenic, hydrogen sulfide and hard scale leaving great tasting natural water. The filtered water will be noticably softer and will taste great, without the addition of salts or chemicals.

HOW DO THEY WORK?

Water flows over and through the filter media. Water is not stored. Water flow is strong. Dads always worry about that - and are always happy after installation.

Filter media have been certified by the NSF.

Kdf, the media in the first tank, is great for filtering chlorine, chemically-based contaminants, heavy metals and more. This tank has a backwash head on a timer. It backwashes - perhaps twice a week at night, but you can choose - to 'fluff' the filter material to keep it from compacting. You have the option to run that water down a drain or use it to water your yard. It averages about 40 gallons backwash.

Carbon, in the second tank, is best for organic-based contaminants. Most everyone agrees carbon leaves good-tasting water.

This system uses 40 pounds of KDF COPPER-ZINC material AND 27.5 pounds of granulated carbon - that's a lot of quality filtering.

To compare to the One Tank Two Media system, the kdf filtration is comparable. This unit has more carbon. The risk from chlorine is the by-products, which are filtered by carbon. So this unit will offer a higher level of chloramine byproducts filtration than the other. It also lasts for 200,000 gallons MORE usage.
