This water filter uses a particular variant of kdf that is effective at removing chloramines. One of the reasons municipalities are using chloramines (made by adding ammonia) is that the chlorine 'holds' longer and doesn't break down. By definition, that makes it harder to filter it out. This combination of filters should remove at least 85% of chloramines from your drinking water.
The first canister has a full pound and a half of kdf formulated to remove chloramines. The second canister has two additional filter mediums - regular kdf to additionally reduce chloramines, remove free chlorine, chlorination by-products, heavy metals and more and to reduce hardness - and top-quality granulated coconut carbon that additionally reduces chloramines and filters organic compounds lincluding organic-based drugs.
